We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their potential, which is why we have structured our our courses to be as flexible as possible around individual circumstances.

Here you can read about some of our current and past students, who are following their dreams their own way.

Charlotte Deakin-Jones
Charlotte Deakin-Jones (Licentiate)

Not many people would be able to take their teaching qualifications up to Licentiate level at the same time as having her first child. But our focus on putting together a flexible study programme – combined of course with Charlotte’s incredible commitment and organisation skills – has made the seemingly impossible possible. Based in the Midlands, Charlotte travels to the North West for a weekend every month to train intensively with Heather Burns and peers.

“Heather has been an absolute inspiration to me” says Charlotte. “She’s so understanding and responsive – always going the extra mile to help me manage conflicting commitments and always at the end of the phone if I’m struggling with anything.”

Jarn-Marie Couley

Jarn-Marie has always wanted to teach and work with children. She is currently studying for her Level 4 Diploma in Ballet, Tap and Modern and hopes, eventually, to open her own school of dance. After previously undertaking a 2-year foundation course in childcare, she now works as a ‘movement’ instructor at a drama school near her home in Jersey.

“Having to fly to and from Jersey to study for my qualifications might have been tricky”, she says “but studying with Heather and the NWVDC has given me the flexibility I needed to schedule training around my travel and work commitments.”
